Pacos Pav and Jersey Sue's Canadian Adventure
They wore cowboy hats, sheriff's badges and spurs. There was a saloon complete with swinging doors and a picture of Queen Victoria. A wanted poster hung nearby as shooters ducked in and out of windows, the sound of their gunfire echoing through the surrounding woods. They had names like Doc, Two Feathers, Cactus Jack and Cody James.
If it wasn't 2011 and the parking lot full of pickup trucks and minivans, one would have thought they were in an old western town in the late 1800s. But on Saturday it was the firing ranges at the Sydenham Sportsmen Association that were transformed into an old-fashioned western town where gentleman and ladies mingled together as shots rang from a good old-fashioned shootout just a few paces away. The difference between this shootout and those from times past was that it was targets and cutouts being shot at and no one lay face down in the dusty street when all was said and done.
The Twin County Bounty Hunters, all members of the Sydenham Sportsmen Association, held their annual invitational match at the club's ranges on Saturday where men and women of all ages came to test their speed and accuracy with a rifle, shotgun and pistols, complete with period costumes. Hosted by Tioga County Cowboys
August 26–27-Hurricane Irene- 28, 2011
Well the weather started out rainy on thursday for their set up but by friday it was sunny and warm. This made side match day pretty good. Saturday morning was sunny and a little brezzy but a good day for shootin. After side matches were over we settled down by Pecos Pav and Jersey Sues camper up on the hill in the camp ground and had a fine evening. The Tioga County Cowboys led by Dusty Drifter set some great stages for day one. After a nice day of slingin lead we all settled down for a pig roast in the pavillion by the Club house. The pig roast was part of the weekend package hosted by the TC Cowboys. Well it was back to the camp to hang out until the clear skys clouded up a little and it began to drizzle. By morning Irene had put a stop to the rest 5 stages set for Sunday. We met at the club house at 9:00am and had the awards. After that we headed home in the hurricane. We know how bad weather can dampen a weekend shooting event. We felt their pain. Thanks to all the Tioga County cowboys for thier hard work. This was the 2nd trip for some of us up to the Showdown.
sorry there are no pictures but these were the Jackson Hole Gang folks who attended Big Whiskey, Cemetary, Capt. Dan Roberts, Victorisa Barkley, Jersey Sue, Dancin Angel, Jesamy Kid, Pecos Pav, Peacemaker Reb who had signed up to shoot had stayed home due to flooding possibilities near his home, as did many others.

It was a nice sunny day with a slight breeze. Appalossa Amy and Quaker Hill Bill wrote up 6 fun stages. Their son Al B. Crazy read off all of the scenerios for the day. After the first 3 we took a break for lunch and then finished out the last 3. We shot with quite a few folks that we had met shooting at other events in the north east. Pictured below was our posse. Names from left to right. Lazy Ace Bob, Tequila Trish, Snazzy McGee, Quaker Hill Bill, Dancin Angel, Appaloosa Amy, JP of Windham, Yankee, Boston Lady, Old Patches, Big Al and Jesamy Kid.

The New Your State Championship
Hosted by the Circle K Regulators
This annual shoot is quite the crowd pleaser. They draw a big crowd every year. Most people will send in their applications the day they receive them. The weather was good the morning temps were a little chilly. There were some great stages. 1 stage had a swinging target and 1 had a slow moving target on a train track. They have a good club with lots of permanent structures to shoot from. In Rukus Flatts you ran into a building kicked down a door and shot your pistols at a plat rack and the outhouse door.

It was a perfect October weekend with sunshine and warm days. Had some clouds on sunday but overall it was good weather. The stages were fun with lots of movement. The stages were set in sand dunes. Running was a little tough but it made it interesting. Pulling you gun carts aroung was difficult but it was worth it. The buildings were fantastic. On one stage you walked down the street shooting your shotgun through the doors and windows to the side of the street and then finished up at the fence with your hand guns. On one stage you kicked open a door and shot your pistols and a swinging target. Great job by dusty Levis and his crew. Bronco Joan and I were the guests of the Maui Marshal's on the Island of Maui Hawaii on Saturday November 19th.
The Maui Marshals are a small group that shoot the 1st. and 3rd. Sat of each month. The first is a formal cowboy shoot with all of the SASS rules and dress, the second is a relaxed dress shoot. WE shot 5 stages with 10 of the nicest cowboys and cowgirls you could meet. As we did not bring our guns or ammo they were happy to lend us theirs to use. At the end of the shoot they invited us to join them in refreshments and sit in on the planning for their state shoot in December. Dirty Door Matt, the only Backaroo was given his first offical badge (his SASS badge has not arrived yet) a Jackson Hole Gang Badge. It was a great day with the Maui Marshals. The TG for the Marshals is Bad Bart. and the reason for no Cowboy hats was the 40mph+ winds that day.

We joined some of our cowboy friends from the "Dakota Badlanders" who shoot at the Guthsville Rod and Gun Club. They handed out literiture from SASS and information about shooting clubs in the Pa area. The best part of the day was all of the youngins coming up to see the Cowboys and Cowgirls all dressed up in their best. the kids got a SASS decal and a lapel pin. Mom and Dad got the literature from SASS and the lowdown on CAS. It was lots of fun and hopefully we got some more folks interested in Cowboy Action Shooting.

" Shoot Out At Sawyer Flats"
The Harvard Goast Rider held the annual Mass, CT and RI Tri State Championship. The committee members form Purgatory felt their "pain from the rain". Half a Hand Herri's shooting school held on Thursday and Friday had some nice weather for Dancin Angel ,Pecos Pav and Jersey Sue who attended the school. The weather for the side matches was also good. But on Saturday we got about 2" of rain over the period of the day. All you could see was cowboy hats and rain slickers. The stages were great (except for a little mud and big puddles of water) lots of movement and close up targets. We all managed to shoot all of the stages and have fun "Shootin In the Rain".
